Orland- Kathy F. Small, 64, died Sunday, April 19, 2020, with her loving family by her side. She was born May 27, 1955, in Castine the daughter of Patrick and Nancy (French) Bouchard. Kathy loved anything connected with the outdoors and nature, diligently cared for her perennial gardens, loved attending and operating yard sales, and enjoyed collecting rocks from many beaches to add to her rock garden. She even inherited rocks from her mother-in-law, and proudly made them part of her garden. She enjoyed the holidays, especially Christmas. She had a great knack for making peanut butter fudge, which was happily received by many. She was given the nickname of “Giggles” by her uncle due to her infectious giggle. She is survived by her loving husband and soul mate Keith Small of Orland; two sons Jereme Ashmore of Hancock and Adam Ashmore of Oklahoma; one brother Timothy Bouchard; sister-in-law Jeanette Tardif; sister-in-law Janet Bouchard, her adopted sister Dot Kehr; one niece Kate Tardif, two nephews Chris Bouchard and Joey Bouchard, her special Aunt Linda, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. She loved her family deeply. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by one grandson Troy and one brother Gerold Bouchard. During the last four months of her life, she was cared for relentlessly by the doctors and nurses of Cancer Care, the doctors, nurses, and staff of the oncology floor at Eastern Maine Medical Center, and the home care nurses of New England Life Care. Even at her most difficult moments, she found the strength to share a “giggle” with them too. Kathy’s family will be forever grateful to all the people whose blood and platelets were donated to keep her with us and giggling.
