Nanita-Lynn Hardie Obituary

Nanita-Lynn Hardie, 48, of Orland, Maine passed away, June 9, 2020, unexpectedly. Nanita was born July 19, 1971, in Panama to Edward S. Hardie and Diane S. (Nightingale) Hardie. She spent the first two years of her life in Panama. Nanita then moved to Germany for three years. After Germany, she lived in Fort Sill, Oklahoma for four years. Then when Edward retired from the military the family permanently settled in Orland, Maine. Nanita attended Bucksport High School and Hancock County Technical Center (then Boggy Brook) for nursing and truck driving. She graduated in 1989. At age eighteen Nanita met Roy B. Saunders and fell in love. Nanita worked as a CNA at Penobscot Nursing Home, but she was not happy and went into waitressing. Nanita and Roy raised one daughter, Josulynn M. Saunders. Nanita was a people person. Her infectious smile would light up a room. She also had a beautiful habit of talking with her eyes and people who knew her well could tell what she was thinking. Her favorite pastime included relaxing in her loving home, which consisted of swimming in a pool in the backyard, sun tanning, and enjoying the day. She also enjoyed visiting Sylvester’s Cove in Deer Isle, Maine. Nanita and Roy just finished an amazing garden filled with vegetables, herbs, and flowers that she was looking forward to watching grow. Nanita was preceded in death by her mother, Diane, Aunt Val, and her best friend, Angela. She is survived by her loving boyfriend, Roy, daughter, Josulynn, father, Edward, best friends, Dawn, Joe, and Tyler and several cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends. The celebration of her life will be announced in the future. Currently, there is a fifty-person limit on gatherings and feel as though it is unfair to limit people who wish to celebrate her with us at this time. Arrangements are under the care of Mitchell-Tweedie Funeral Home and Cremation Services Bucksport. (mitchelltweedie-young.com)
