Orland- Rodney C. Gross, 74, passed away peacefully after a brief illness, on Saturday July 20, 2019 at St. Joseph Hospital in Bangor. He was born August 8, 1944 to Clifford and Virginia (Sullivan) Gross in Castine. Rod served his country with honor in the Army during the Vietnam War from 1964-1965. He worked for and retired from International Paper mill in Bucksport. Rod enjoyed for many years camping at Matagamon, hunting and fishing leading to many adventures, his family and friends. He was a volunteer fireman for many years with the Orland Fire Department. He was a strong and faithful member of the Bucksport United Methodist Church; he was an active volunteer with Bucksport Community Concerns each week. Rod was always such a good sport! He could be an easy target to play jokes on, but he never stayed mad; so many laughs, memories and great times. Rod is survived and will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 48 years, Claudeane (Marks) Gross, four brothers; Roland “Pody” and Pat, Bill, Glenn and Judy Findlay and Scott and Kathy Findlay, as well as several special nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, his loving stepmother Alice, three sisters; Joyce, Jane and Norma and one brother Terry. A funeral Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday July 26, 2019 at Bucksport United Methodist Church, 3 River Road Bucksport.
