MADELYN M. DEAN ROCKPORT………………….Madelyn Mae Dean, 91, widow of Robert L. Dean, died on Sunday, January 13, 2019 at Harbor Hill in Belfast. Born in China on April 18, 1927, she was the daughter of Ernest Webber and Mildred (Pierce) Webber. Madelyn was a 1949 graduate of the University of Maine. Upon graduation, she was employed as a teacher at Rockport High School. It was in Rockport where she met her future husband, Robert Dean, the love of her life. She also taught at the Rockport Elementary School and at the Camden-Rockport Middle School. Madelyn loved reading, gardening, as well as sewing. Madelyn was predeceased by her husband, Robert. She is survived by two sons, Scott L. Dean and his wife, Patricia of Bellingham, MA; Lindsey D. Dean and his wife, Pamela, of West Palm Beach, Florida; two grandchildren, Kathryn Luedtke and her husband, Michael of Bellingham, MA; Greg Dean and his wife, Sukie of Santa Monica CA; three great-grandchildren, Owen, Jack and Mira Luedtke. She also leaves a brother-in-law, Richard Dean and his wife, Jeanette of Lincolnville; a niece, Joanne Harrington and her husband, Richard of South China, a nephew, Michael Keller and his wife, Mary of Grand Rapids, Michigan; as well as several other nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank all of the staff at Harbor Hill and Beacon Hospice for their care and compassion over the past several years. Visiting hours will be held from 4-6PM, Friday, February 1, 2019 at the Long Funeral Home, 9 Mountain Street, Camden. A Memorial Service followed by a reception will be held at 10AM, Saturday, February 2, 2019 the John Street United Methodist Church, 98 John Street, Camden with the Rev. Michelle Willey officiating. Private graveside service will be held in the spring. If desired, memorial gifts may be made to the Good Shepherd Food Bank, P.O. Box 1807, Auburn, ME 04211.
