Donald Rene Laverdiere, 71, a resident of Embden and formerly of Jay, passed away peacefully with his wife by his side, Tuesday, September 11th at Redington-Fairview General Hospital. He was born August 5, 1947, in Lewiston, the son of Armand P. and Carolyn (Scott) Laverdiere. Donald graduated from Jay High School in 1965 and later received his Associates Degree in papermaking from the University of Maine at Orono. He proudly served in the United States Army during Vietnam. On November 23, 2002, he married Ann Hooper after being together since 1992. Donald worked as a Supervisor for International Paper in Jay for 22 years and Madison Paper in Madison for 20 years, retiring in 2009. Donald enjoyed hunting, fishing, four wheeling, snowmobiling and reading. He is survived by his mother, Carolyn Laverdiere of Jay, his wife Ann Laverdiere of Embden, his daughters; Amy Laverdiere of San Francisco, California and Donna Laverdiere and her husband Loren Crippin of Martinez, California, his grandchildren, Everett and River Crippin and his sister JoAnn Green of Jay.
