Gervin L. Palmer

Livermore – Gervin “Bucky” Palmer, 96, a resident of Livermore passed away Sunday, June 11th at his home. He was the last of 11 children in his family. Bucky was born on September 27, 1920 in Starks, Maine, the son of Ernest and Alura Palmer. He graduated from Dixfield High School. Bucky served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He married Marjorie Hobart in 1941 and she died in 1997. In September of 1998 he married Donna Hannon in Livermore Falls, Maine. He worked and retired from the paper mill in Rumford Maine. Bucky was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed photography and snowmobiling. He also enjoyed traveling to Pemaquid Beach with his wife Donna and spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife, Donna Palmer of Livermore, one son, Jeffery Palmer and his companion Dianne Hirsh of Dixfield, one daughter, Gaynelle Becker and husband Raymond of New Gloucester, 3 step-sons, Randy Shaffer and his wife Jane of Portland, Rick Shaffer and his wife Cathy of Bowdoinham, Rusty Shaffer and 1 step-daughter, Terry Hannon Sherett and her husband Steve of Monmouth, 8 grandchildren, several great-grandchild, many great-great-grandchildren, 9 step-grandchildren and 8 step great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents, his first wife, Marjorie Palmer, one daughter, Nedra and two sons, Weston and Jimmy Palmer. Messages of condolence may be sent to: www.finleyfuneralhome.com. Visiting to be held prior to the funeral service at 11:00 am to noon, members of the military organizations to meet at the funeral home at 11:30 am. Interment at Riverside Cemetery in Dixfield, Maine
