Farmington – Helen Ann Hughes, 73, a resident of Farmington, passed away, Saturday, February 25th at Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington. She was born April 12, 1943 in Steep Falls, the daughter of Franklin Swinington and Hattie D. (Ward) Swinington. Helen was a graduate of Pennell High School in Gray. On October 7, 1983, she married Gerald L. Hughes, he passed away February 26, 2015. She devoted her life to her family and her home. Helen dedicated her life to Lord and was a current member of the First Apostolic Church in Wilton. She was also a former member of The Note-Ables Chorus in Bangor. She enjoyed knitting, coloring, and had a love for poetry, having had a few of her poems she had written published. She is survived by her daughter, April Kerr and her husband Jeffrey of Farmington, 3 grandchildren, Franklin Steele and his wife Melissa of Bethel, Heather Steele of Vienna, Georgia, and Theodore Gagnon of Lewiston, and 8 great-grandchildren, sister-in-law, Cora Swinington of Gray, and her beloved cat “Tiffany”. She was predeceased by two brothers, Roger and Harold Swinington.
