Auburn – Ira “Doc” A. Kempf, 75, of Hartford, passed away, Saturday, April 22nd at Hospice House of Androscoggin in Auburn, with his family by his side. He was born May 18, 1941 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of John Kempf and Marie (Wells) Kempf. He was a graduate of Northview High School in Brazil, Indiana. He served in the U. S. Army from 1958 to 1962 during the Vietnam War. On September 19, 1981 in Peru, he married Sandra Lee and they made their home in Hartford. Sandra passed away November 27, 2015. Ira worked as a pipefitter for Local 716 in Augusta. He retired in 2001. Ira was a member of the American Legion Post 24 in Rumford and former member of Amvets Post 33 in Jay. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family. He is survived by his daughter, Kim Ann Thies, his grandson, Phillip Thies both of Manheim, Germany, stepchildren, Linda Autrey and her companion Donald Keene of Jay; Colleen Child and her husband Jeffrey of Leeds; and Troy Dickie and his wife Sandra of Turner; 6 step-grandchildren and 5 step-great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his sister, and his stepson, Alan Dickie.
