Arthur “Bill” W. Hoar East Machias Arthur “Bill” W. Hoar, 94, died peacefully December 10, 2013 at the Maine Veterans Home in Machias. He was born May 20, 1919 in Grand Lake Stream, the son of the late B. Frank and Carrie (Getchell) Hoar. He was a career Veteran serving in the U.S. Air Force. He was a member of the V.F.W. and served on the Washington Academy Board of Trustees. He loved being outdoors, fishing, especially salmon fishing ,hunting, spending time at Hadley’s Lake, as well as reading. He is survived by two daughters- Alison Paolini and Carol Lee Lunceford; grandchildren Michelle, Andrew, and Matthew Moody, Melissa Woodell, Angie Allen, Chavis Lunceford, and Scott and Lisa Arndt ; great-grandchildren -Dylan and Peyton Moody, Gabriel and Isabela Lunceford, Maya Lunceford, Chad and Alyssa Woodell, and Emory Allen; and special friends- Scott and Christy Verburgt. He is predeceased by his wife Lila; his son Arthur Wheeler; two brothers John and Edward, and a sister Frances. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 9:30 a.m until time of funeral service at 11 am at the McClure Funeral Home (corner of Charles and Drisko Streets) Machias. In lieu of flowers donations to a Veteran’s charity of one’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
