Edward L Look Obituary

Edward Lyndon Look “Eddie Buck” Jonesport, Maine “If I leave here tomorrow would you still remember me? For I must be traveling on now, cause there’s too many places I’ve got to see…. “For I’m free as a bird now” Edward L. Look, 65 (better known as Eddie Buck) Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, Brother, Uncle, Cousin and Friend passed on today Wednesday, May 27th 2020. Eddie was born October 5th 1954 at Jonesport, Maine the 4th child of Oscar W. and Dorothy F. Look Jr. Eddie was a loving son, he loved visiting his mother every morning while she was still alive they would discuss the lobster business, the town news and would complete crossword puzzles together from the newspaper. He was the best brother a family could have. Eddie loved his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was very proud of grandson Josh who served our country in Afghanistan as part of the U.S. Army. Eddie and Josh talked often and both looked forward to getting together when Josh returned home on leave. Eddie loved hearing about and getting phone calls from his nieces and nephews, especially from his grand-niece Gabrielle who would talk for hours with him long after midnight.   He and was so looking forward to holding his first great-grandson Elijah James Hachey and another great-grandson Raymond Edward Crowley due August. Eddie was born with a great work ethic from an early age, when around age 5 or 6 he rode shotgun with Ricky Kelley and Clydie Samuelson in their infamous trash truck helping with the collection of the town’s trash. This is undoubtedly where he had his first encounter with a Marlboro cigarette. This job abruptly ended (by Mama) when he saw a hat on the dump pile walked out to fetch it and brought it home. Somehow Mama didn’t see the value in that hat! After that venture he decided to deliver newspapers around town through wind, rain, snow and a few dogs who didn’t want to read the paper, or let Eddie deliver the paper. Eddie was a favorite among his many customers. Eddie, when growing up enjoyed a good meal, especially breakfast, when breakfast was over he would mosey on over to our neighbors, the Kysers.. Eddie and Mrs. Kyser would exercise together with Jack Lalaine, who was on T.V at that time, and then have breakfast together….after that it was time to join the Malicoats across the street for another morning meal with Dagmar. It was said “a good time was had by all involved.” Eddie attended Jonesport-Beals High School and graduated in 1972 where he played baseball and managed basketball for the Royals. He attended college at UMM in Machias. Eddie started his life long career working with his father Oscar in the family lobster business where he worked for over 40 years. On occasion, Ed would say “our father has been very remindful today” referring to when our father would tell Eddie how to do something Ed had been doing for years. Eddie was a dedicated worker for his father and loved talking and joking with their fishermen….they became a family of O.W. Look and Son. Oscar and Eddie “set up” in the lobster business, many of the area fishermen. Eddie was very generous when times became difficult helping those in need. He would as they say “give you the shirt off his back”. When Oscar passed Eddie became sole owner and operator of O. W. Look and Son. Eddie ran the business until 2018 when he closed the business. Eddie is forever grateful to those fishermen who stayed with him to the very end and who hated for him to shut the business down. You fishermen were so loyal and Eddie and our family so appreciate that you were. Eddie was predeceased by his parents Oscar and Dorothy Look, a very special sister Debbie Look Crowley whom he lovingly referred to as “Buddy Girl”, the love of his life, his dog Velvet, his grandparents Katharine and Lynn Fish and Frances Joy and Oscar W. Look Sr., a sister-in Joy Robinson Look, a brother-in-law Raymond Johnson, his best friend Raymond Crowley and special friend Randy French and his aunts and uncles. Eddie is survived by his children; Christine (Jeff) Hachey, Addison, Maine, Tim (Christina) Lunn, Jonesport, Maine, grandchildren Josh Hachey and companion Miranda, Anchorage, Alaska and Brooke Hachey (Kenneth Crowley) Jonesport, Maine, Brian, Abigail and Emily Lunn, Jonesport, Maine. He is survived by his brothers: Oscar W.(Bill) (Marylou) Look III Beals, Maine; Charles (Laura) Look, Ellsworth, Maine; his sisters: Katharine (John) Maize, Jonesport, Maine; Dorinda Johnson, Aloha, Oregon and Patricia Look, Bangor, Maine. He will be lovingly remembered by his nieces and nephews: Bill (Rosanna) Look, West Minister, Massachusetts; Nick Look, Beals, Maine; Kendra Look, Sacramento, California; Suzanne Thomas (Nick Greeley) who was very close to her Uncle Eddie as they talked everyday, Elida, Ohio; Julie Thomas, Jennifer Thomas, Columbus, Ohio; Chris (Christy) Crowley, Portland, Maine; Merri (Pete) Verboort; Tigard Oregon; Oscar (Stephanie) Johnson, Hillsboro, Oregon; Billy (Michelle) Alley Bangor, Maine; Joseph Look Ellsworth, Maine and Derek Look USMC….grandnieces and grandnephews Mia Look, Gabrielle Arnold, Peyton and Paige Patterson, Gracie, Ben and Matthew Verboort----Matthew Crowley, Gage Alley (Zack Duren) , Dillion and Ryder Alley. Eddie Buck will be fondly remembered by so many people in the area including, his huggable cousins Ruth Margaret Smith, Gloria McDonald (Polie Beal HB) and Jane Blackwood, his business cousin Sid Look and Priscilla Look, very special friends Tommy and Karen Beal, Darrell E. Alley, Stevie Crowley, Orrin Chandler, Robie Robinson, Davey (KooK) Alley, Barry Joy, his neighbors Lisa and Tony Graham and Daniel Gray and so many of his fishermen too numerous to mention. Eddie loved watching sports. He, of course, was a huge Patriots, Red Sox, and Celtics fan and was known to watch The Ohio State Buckeyes for his sister and his niece. He wanted his best friend Guy Alan Beal to know he loved you like a son. You were always there to talk to, laugh with, ride around town listening to and singing along with Lynyrd Skynard. Tom Petty, Bob Seager and Neil Young. You were there when he needed you always. You were so loved and appreciated by Eddie. Eddie was a loving, giving, caring person, a good person. He was known for his hugs like a bear, his very quick wit, his laughter, his smile AND his “Eddie Stories” which so many of you will hopefully continue to tell. He will be forever loved and missed. Eddie, You are now a “Free Bird”! A celebration of life is planned for later date. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked donations to be made in Eddie’s name to the Congregational Church of Jonesport, Maine Steeple Fund c/o Pastor Phyliss Merritt. Eddie, as a young boy, served as an acolyte, lighting the candles each Sunday Morning. Condolences and memories may be shared at www.mcclurefamilyfuneral.com
