John S. Appleby Sr Lubec “Pay Attention” John Sherman Appleby Sr, 75, died November 2, 2019 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born November 12, 1943 in Lubec the son of the late John W. and Irene (Cook) Appleby. He proudly served in the U.S. Coast Guard retiring as Chief Boatswain's mate in 1986. He was an active life member of Stuart-Green Post #65 in Lubec . He was Past Commander of Post #65, Past Washington County Commander , as well as Past 6th District Commander. He enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, and was very mechanically inclined. He also enjoyed spending his winters in sunny Florida. He is survived by his wife Julie K. (Wilkins) Appleby ; two sons -John S. Appleby II , his wife Erin and their son Eli, Jason W. Appleby, his wife Devon and their children Claire, Evelyn, and Easton ; “ their brother from another mother” Michael Morey and his son Kyle; an aunt Hazel Avery, and her family; and many friends. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by a sister Ellen Marie Hooper, and an aunt Ruth Dean Services with military honors will be held 2pm Saturday November 9, 2019 at the Stuart-Green Post #65 American Legion, County Road, Lubec.
