Phyllis Barbara Berg Machias, ME Phyllis Barbara (Griffin) Berg ,89, went to be with the Lord peacefully at Marshall Heralthcare on Wed., Nov 20, 2019. She was born in Medford, MA on Feb 7, 1930, the daughter of John and Mary (Brogan) Griffin. Phyllis graduated from Medford Catholic School in Medford, MA. After graduating high school she worked in the factory in Medford. After WWII she met the love of her life, Don P. Berg while he was stationed at the Boston Navy Base. They married Aug 25, 1950. In 1951, they had their only son Don "Paul" Berg, Jr. While her husband, Don was often stationed out to sea for many years, Phyllis made their home in Medford, MA. In 1957, Don was stationed to the Island of Bermuda for 3 years and the family lived together at that time enjoying Bermuda, fishing, snorkeling and the warm tropical breezes. In 1961, Don was stationed at Cutler Naval Base in Cutler, ME and during this move they purchased a farm in Northfield, ME. Phyllis enjoyed being a housewife, stay at home mom, cooking, her flower gardens, feeding and watching the birds, riding her bike and spending time with her family. After 20 years in Northfield, ME they sold their farm after retirement and moved to Machias, ME always spending time together out riding or shopping. Surviving is her son Don "Paul" Berg, Jr., her favorite niece Mary Ann Proia and her husband Tommy Proia of Billerica, MA. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husband Don Paul Berg, Sr., 10 sisters and brothers. Phyllis's family would like to express sincere appreciation to all of her friends and caregivers at Marshall Manor and the Veteran's Home in Machias, ME. There will be a graveside service at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, November 27, 2019 at the Longfellow Cemetery, Machias, ME. Services officiated by Father Clement of the Holy Name Catholic Church, 11 Free Street, Machias, ME. In Lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Phyllis Berg can be made to St. Jude's Children Research Hospital, Memorial and Honor Gifts P.O.
