Obituary for David E. Cullens

East Millinocket – David E. Cullens Sr., passed away November 15, 2019 in Bangor peacefully with his family by his side. David was born July 25 1947 to Helen and John Cullens. He grew up in East Millinocket and graduated from Scheck High School in 1965. David was the most dedicated husband, father and Papa. He was strong, generous, thoughtful, and brave. He was intuitive and while his memory was failing, he never once lost that charisma and charm. He welcomed everyone with a smile and while he might not remember your name, he never forgot a face. He was witty and charming, and held those traits right until the end.

David enjoyed spending time with family and friends, watching his grandsons play sports, and listening to Johnny Cash. He married his high school sweetheart Connie (Baker) Cullens shortly after graduating from high school. David served in the army from 1966 to 1968 and did a tour in Vietnam where he served as a military police officer. He also served in the National guard where he was a medic. David and Connie welcomed their first son David E. Cullens Jr, 9 months after he returned home from his tour in Vietnam and their second son Andrew 2 years later. David was proud of his service to his country and served in several offices at the local, county, district, and state levels of the American Legion before being elected State Commander for the 2002 to 2003 term. He enjoyed many years as a high school basketball and football official and in later years he enjoyed his time in the bleachers watching his grandson’s games and socializing. David was predeceased by his parents Helen and John, his wife of 42 years. Constance Cullens, his brother Joey Cullens, and sister Judy (Cullens) Hafford

He is survived by his spouse Sue Cullens, son David and his wife Alisa Cullens, son Andrew and his wife Ann Cullens, grandchildren Matthew Cullens, Justin Cullens and his significant other Debbi Wight, Colby Hannan, Kaden Hannan, brother Lewis and his wife Shelly Cullens , sister Pauline Bonnette, a special niece Shelby Belanger and her family, step children Scott and Sandra Horton, several cousins, nieces, nephews, and many special friends.
