John W. Rush

Millinocket – John W. Rush, 70, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, April 21, 2021 at his home, with his family by his side. He was born October 6, 1950 in Millinocket, the son of Bernard J. and Jean M. (Saucier) Rush. John grew up in Millinocket, and was a graduate of Stearns High School, class of 1969. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, serving in Germany, where he was severely injured in a car accident. After he was discharged, and recovered from his accident, he returned to Millinocket and began working for the Town of Millinocket Public Works Department, where he worked for 34 years before retiring in 2011. John enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family at his camp on Ambejejus Lake. He was a warm and friendly personality, and was well known and beloved by his family, coworkers, and residents of town whom he encountered during his work. John loved his family and lived life with passion. He went out of his way to help anyone who needed a hand, and will be lovingly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him. John is survived by his wife of 37 years, Lynn M. (Hartley) Rush; two daughters, Jennifer J. Rush and her son Shane, and Amber L. Rush and her daughter Adelyn; brother, Gary J. Rush and his significant other Janet Brown; his step mother Louise Rush and her family; his father in law, James W. Hartley, Sr.; two brothers in law, James W. Hartley, Jr. and his wife Holly, and Philip A. Hartley and his wife Ann; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He will also be missed by his faithful canine friend, Max. In addition to his parents, John was predeceased by his step father, Harlan Ashley, a son, Peter John Rush, granddaughter Mackenzie Lynn Melvin, and his mother in law, Lorraine M. Hartley. Friends are invited to visit with the family 9:30 – 11 AM Friday, April 30 at Christ the Divine Mercy Parish, St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church, 19 Colby Street, Millinocket, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 AM with the Rev. Bruce Siket, pastor, presider. Interment, with military honors, will be at the Millinocket Cemetery. Services will be livestreamed and may be viewed, and messages of condolence expressed, at John’s Book of Memories at www.lamsonfh.com.
