David Flanagan Obituary

Millinocket – David L. Flanagan, 69, died Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at a Bangor hospital. He was born April 21, 1948 in Millinocket, the son of Donald L. and Barbara L. (Maynard) Flanagan. David grew up in Millinocket, and was a graduate of Stearns High School, class of 1967. He attended Husson College in Bangor, graduating in 1971 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting. David worked for the Great Northern Paper Company for many years, retiring on his 53rd birthday. He was a fan of all the New England sports teams, especially the Red Sox. His true passion in life, though, was fishing. He was well known for his fishing throughout the area, and was especially proud of a trip he took to Alaska where he landed a 12 ½ pound rainbow trout. He was talented at tying flies, and spent much of his time doing so when he wasn’t fishing. David was a member of the Millinocket Elks Lodge #1521. He is survived by a sister, Cathleen Flanagan of Millinocket; two nieces, Susan Frost and her companion Stephen Munroe of Old Town, and Lauren Rheaume and her husband Anthony of Winthrop; a nephew, William Flanagan; great nieces and great nephews, Bailey Bernier, Aidan, Owen, and Lily Rand, Lucy Rheaume, and Tara Flanagan. David was predeceased by his parents and a sister, Susan. Graveside services will be held 1 P.M. Saturday, June 10 at the Millinocket Cemetery. Gifts in memory of Flan may be sent to the Shriners Hospitals for Children, 516 Carew Street, Springfield, MA 01104-2396. Arrangements are by Lamson Funeral Home, Millinocket.
