James Ebbett Obituary

Millinocket – James S. Ebbett, 81, passed away Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at Maine General Medical Center in Augusta. Jim, or “Jimmy” as he was known to all, was born on September 12, 1935 in Milinocket, the son of Byron and Nina (Gilman) Ebbett. Jim was married to his high school sweetheart Charlene (Whiston) on July 4, 1959. He was a member of the Millinocket Baptist Church. Jim spent quality time hunting and fishing with his grandsons Josh, Nick, and Tyler. Another enjoyment was following all of their sporting events – he was very proud of them all. He worked at the Great Northern Paper Company for 42 years and retired in 1994. After retirement, he spent time hunting and fishing with his friend Ford Malcolm and spent time fishing at Nesowadnehunk with another friend, Don Johnson. Later, he and Jr. Hartley would enjoy their time at McDonald’s having coffee and talking. Jim is survived by his wife Charlene; three daughters, Karen Murphy and her husband Jeff, Janelle Ebbett, and Kayla Hewitt; four grandchildren, Josh Emerson and Angela, Nick Cormier and his wife Casey, Nathan Hewitt, and Whitney Duplisea; a sister Sarah Nason of Virginia; a brother in law, Terry Bragan and his wife Mary Jane; a sister in law Karen Lewis and her husband Jim of Florida; and great grandchildren Kennedy Emerson, his namesake James Emerson, and Gavin Cormier; and nieces, nephews, and cousins. Jim was predeceased by his parents, a sister Dolly Steeves, a brother Fred Ebbett, a brother in law David Nason, a grandson Tyler Emerson, and mother in law Mary Macaulay of Florida. At Jim’s request, there will be no visiting hours or services, and the family is honoring his wishes.
