Millinocket – Robert A. Raymond, 80, died Friday, July 19, 2013 at a Bangor health care facility. He was born August 22, 1932 in Millinocket, the son of Peter and Flora (York) Raymond. Bob was a yard worker at the Great Northern Paper Company from the age of 16 until his retirement with 35 years experience. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. After a fire at home caused his family to lose everything, Bob was given a “hardship discharge”, so he could return home and help his family recover. He was a friend of Bill W for 47 years, and assisted many fellow friends through the years. Bob spoke to many groups, helping them “achieve sanity”. He was a faithful communicant of St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church in Millinocket for many years. Bob is survived by a son, Robert Raymond of Millinocket; a daughter, Renee Ciarrochi and her husband Peter of East Millinocket; a sister, Anita Powers and her husband Wayne of East Millinocket; and several grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Bob will also be missed by special friends Anthony and Sheryl Capone. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his former wives, Shirley (Friel) Raymond, and Ruth Ann (Brown) Raymond, four sisters, Pearl Moscone, Janet Perrow, Doris Rood, and Evelyn Brown, and a brother, Peter Edward Raymond. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 A.M. Tuesday, July 23 at Christ the Divine Mercy Parish at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church, 19 Colby St., Millinocket with the Rev. Joel Cyr, pastor, presider. Interment will be at the Millinocket Cemetery. Gifts in memory of Bob may be sent to the Maine Veteran’s Home, 144 Hogan Road, Bangor, ME 04401. Arrangements are by Lamson Funeral Home, Millinocket. Messages of condolence may be expressed at www.lamsonfh.com.
