The angel at the top of our family tree is gone, leaving behind a legacy of undying love, devotion to family and friends, and a warm greeting smile for everyone she met. Ruth E. (Thorpe) Madore, 70, passed away peacefully on April 24, 2017. She was born on January 25, 1947 to parents William and Audrey (Whitney) Thorpe, Sr. She attended local schools and proudly graduated in the Stearns High School Class of 1965. She worked at Bangor Savings Bank for five years and then for Dr. Shippee for twenty five years until she retired. Ruth was especially proud of her marriage of fifty two years. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by three special sisters-in-law. She is survived by her husband John Madore, daughter Amy Cyr and her daughters Katelyn and Abigail and their father John R. Cyr, son Jeffrey and his wife Michelle and their daughters Maya and Emma; a brother William Thorpe Jr.; sisters-in-law Marie and Jackie; brothers-in-law Henry, Ronald, and Arnold. There will be no services at Ruth’s request and interment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Katahdin Area Support Group.
