PRESQUE ISLE: Sandra M. Henderson, 72, passed away peacefully with her family at her side on October 18, 2020 following a brief illness. She was born May 30, 1948 in Presque Isle, the daughter of Simon and Pearl (Clair) Metrick.

Sandra was proud to have lived in Presque Isle all her life. She lived a spectacularly simple life and often said that she had everything she needed and wanted because she had her family around her; family meant everything to her. Her home was referred to as the “family home” since it was the setting for countless celebrations, family barbecues, birthdays, and other family gatherings. Her porch was the destination for warm summer evenings; her living room the place to be for Saturday night popcorn or an impromptu afternoon visit; her kitchen table a place of honor to appreciate her delicious meals. No matter why you were there, she was a loving and gracious host.

Sandra had various jobs in her life, but most important to her was that of a wife, mother, and Nana. Her grandchildren were the most precious gifts of her life. She will be lovingly remembered for swinging with them on the porch, rocking them in the “sick chair” when they weren’t feeling well, and their endless requests for her fried chicken.

She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Richard, her children; Kelly (Henderson) Garrison of Mars Hill, and Kim (Henderson) Allen and her companion Ray Withee of Mapleton, two sons-in-law Aaron Garrison and Chris Allen, a sister Sharon Jensen of Presque Isle, Grandchildren; Joseph Allen, Christen Delong and her husband Carl, Mason Allen, Noah and Laura Garrison, great grandchildren; Danika, Blake, and Roman Allen, and Delong baby due in April 2021, three nieces; Lisa, Lauri, and Lynnae Moran. She was predeceased by her parents, and her sister Sheila.

A graveside service will be held 11AM Saturday October 24, 2020 at Fairmount Cemetery, Presque Isle with the Reverends Larry Palmer and Bud Fancy officiating.
