Eileen K. Morris, 90, of Thomaston, Maine, died peacefully May 18, 2011. She was born February 16, 1921 in Rutland, Vermont where she attended local schools. She received her nursing degree at Rutland Vermont Nursing School in 1943 and began her career as a nurse at Rutland Hospital. She married John F. Morris, Sr. in 1943. Eileen and John then moved to Washington D.C. where she worked at Holy Cross Hospital, Prince Georges Hospital and then went into private duty nursing for several years. While working at Field Crest Manor she received the Employee Award. She had many hobbies including needlepoint, reading, knitting, playing cards and gardening. She is predeceased by her husband John F. Morris, Sr. She is survived by her sons John “Jack” F. Morris, Jr. of Gransonville, MD and Thomas F. Morris of Richmond, Virginia Her daughters Kathleen Spitzer and Sharon M. Scalzone of Port Charlotte, Florida She has seven grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren Donations may be made in her memory to the World War II Memorial and Kno-wal-In Home Health.
