Julian "Bud" Lorleberg

Julian Shelton Lorleberg, 84 passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on September 21st, 2016 . Julian preferred to be called “Bud” and he was born on October 26th, 1931 in Roanoke, Virginia to parents Henry Harold Lorleberg and Dulcie Lillian Henry Lorleberg. Bud joined the Army at the age of 17, served in the Korean War, was a Purple Heart recipient before being honorably discharged . Bud worked for 10 years with the Life of Virginia. He went on to work at the New American in Baltimore, MD as a circulation manager for 25 years until his retirement. Bud enjoyed traveling with his second wife, Vera, fishing and hunting with his friends Garfield and Roger. Everyone remembers Bud as a very friendly person and in his later years he enjoyed attending church, reading the bible, and friends. Bud attended Beaver Creek Church of the Brethren and the Red Oak Grove Church in Floyd, Va. Bud was predeceased by his parents, second wife Vera and daughter Donna Hauck, and 2 grandchildren, Erica and Donald Hauck. Left to cherish his memories are his Son- Thomas and wife Gloria Lorleberg from Thomaston, ME, step-son Jim Mays of Maryland. His former wife Joan Shimanek of Thomaston, ME, brother Victor Lorleberg from Minnesota, Sister Dulcie Merrill of Virginia, Elizabeth Henry Stone and Michael Caruthers and Aurelia Caruthers of Virginia , Granddaughters Bridget Franz of Pennsylvania, Valerie Lorleberg of Thomaston, ME and Amanda Hauck of Baltimore, MD, four great-grandchildren, as well as Guy "GG" Bower, Ginger Bower, Mary Pannell, Roger Shortridge of Virginia. Bud was laid to rest in the Maine Veterans Cemetery, Augusta, Maine on October 16th, 2019 at 12:00 p.m. with full military honors. Hall’s of Thomaston has care of the arrangements.
