Charles Baldwin Obituary

Charles Raymond “Chuck” Baldwin, 70, of Arnold, MD, passed away peacefully on January 19, 2020, several months after being diagnosed with cancer. Chuck was born on March 13, 1949 to George and Anna Baldwin in Baltimore, MD. After graduating from Northeast High School in 1967, Chuck served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Thailand during the Vietnam War. Upon his return, he began his career working for the local telephone company, Bell Atlantic/C&P/Verizon. He retired after 32 years of service and then he worked part-time for Severna Park Flowers and for What’s Up Magazine for several years. Chuck met the love of his life, Kerry Ann Adkins, marrying in 1973 and going on to have three children, Tiffani, Mark and Dustin. Chuck’s love and adoration for Kerry was palpable and continued to grow over the years, along with their faith in God together. Chuck’s family meant more to him than anything else in the world. He volunteered for all of his children’s activities. He coached soccer, basketball, and baseball for his two sons, Mark and Dustin for many years. And this past spring, he had the privilege of coaching baseball with his son, Dustin, for his grandson, Brendan. He loved this so much. In the 80s and 90s he could also be found at Annapolis Summer Garden Theater with his daughter, Tiffani and son, Mark. He would run the sound and lights, worked backstage, and helped build sets. Anything that needed to be done, he did. He wanted to be part of whatever his children were involved in. This same selfless spirit carried on as he cared for his grandkids. He was quite the performer himself especially when handed a microphone, whether it was karaoke or emceeing church events. While a Deacon at New Covenant church, he could even be found building the manger for the live Nativity scenes each year. Anyone who knew Chuck, knew that he was the most loving father, grandfather, and husband a family could ask for. He always put others before himself. He had many health issues over the years, with several surgeries, and yet never complained. His faith in the Lord was his Rock. Anyone who knew him instantly loved his heart, his beautiful smile, and his comedic ways. Chuck was predeceased by his mother and father, George and Anna; brother, Tommy; and his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Charles and Mattie Adkins. He is survived by his loving wife, Kerry Ann; his three devoted children, Tiffani Tendell (Jason) and their son, William; Mark (Lindsey) and their children, Lily and Owen; and Dustin (Melissa) and their children Emily, Brendan and a baby girl due in May; his brother-in-law, Terry Adkins; sister-in-law, Sue Centurelli (Paul); niece, Jodi Hissong (Brian) and their children, Reid, Marlo and Hayes; niece, Ashley Mackel (Michael) and their children, Morgan and Molly and Chuck’s deceased brother’s children, Kimberly Tippett and Michael Baldwin. There will be a Celebration of Life memorial held on Saturday, January 25 at 11am at CrossPointe Church, 365 Jones Station Road, Arnold, MD.
