Anthony Wayne Essex , 59 Aug 14, 1955 - Apr 12, 2015 Anthony "D.D' Essex, 59, of 228 N. Locust Street, passed away on Sunday, April 12, 2015 at home. He was born August 14, 1955 to the late Annie Elizabeth and James Essex. He attended schools in Jefferson County, WV. He worked for several years at the Charles Town Race Track then relocated to San Antonio, TX, where he worked for the race track for many more years. He came to live in Hagerstown to be near family. He attended Zion Baptist Church and is survived by four sisters, Chrystal Essex Kemp, Karen Essex, Debra Essex, and Sherry Essex, all of Hagerstown, and two brothers, Darryl Essex of Baltimore and Keith Essex of Hagerstown, as well as a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. A Funeral Service will be held at Harman Funeral Home, 305 N. Potomac Street, Hagerstown on Friday, April 17, 2015 at 1:00 PM. Pastor Dr. Gertrude Dixon will officiate. Interment to immediately follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. Viewing will be held at the funeral home from 12:00 to 1:00 PM. The family will receive friends at Bethel Gardens Community Center after services. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of Washington County, 747 Northern Avenue, Hagerstown or Meritus Medical Center, 11110 Medical Campus Drive, Hagerstown.
