William Eugen "Bill" Hester, 87, of Hagerstown, MD passed away at his home on Monday, July 20, 2015. He was born May 12, 1928 in Charlestown, WV to the late Daniel and Lizia (Bailey) Hester. Bill worked for many organizations, including Alexander Hotel, Western Maryland Railroad, Fairchild, Letter Kenny, was the proprietor of Hester's Tavern on Jonathan Street in Hagerstown. At an early age, he worked with race horses, and ultimately owned and trained race horses at Charlestown Race Track for many years, retiring in 1996. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by two brothers and five sisters. Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Geraldine Rozelia (Hill) Hester, whom he married on December 20, 1946, a daughter Carmen Rozelia Hester of Hagerstown, sons Brian Eugene Hester of Hagerstown and Johnny Cramer of New Jersey. Bill is also survived by a brother, Donald L. Hester of Portsmouth, VA and a sister, Esther Brown of Texas, five grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends will be received on Friday, July 24, 2015 from 1:00 to 2:00 PM at Harman Funeral Home, 305 N. Potomac Street, Hagerstown, where a funeral service will begin at 2:00 PM. Rev. Charles H.
