Holland William Brown, 87, of Hurlock, Maryland, departed this life on November 27, 2019, at Dorchester General Hospital in Cambridge, Maryland. Mr. Brown was born on September 4, 1932, in Exuma, Bahamas, son of the late Joseph and Remilda Brown. Mr. Brown graduated from Georgetown High School in Exuma, Bahamas. After graduation, he moved to the United States, in 1952, where he met Ms. Lurlene Shannon. They married on March 6, 1954. They relocated to Maryland in 1955. Mr. Brown was employed for eight years at John Wright Canary in Hurlock. He was also employed with the Dorchester County School System for 30 years. He retired from North Dorchester High School. After retirement, Mr. Brown worked for the Hurlock Postal Services until his death. “Brown”, as he was fondly known, was a kind man who would help anyone that needed him. He will surely be missed. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Victor and Alfred Brown, and one sister, Syble Brown. Mr. Brown is survived by his loving wife, Lurlene Brown of Hurlock, MD; two sisters, Elinva Allen and Verlie Brown both of the Bahamas; brother-in-law, Wayne Allen of the Bahamas; two nieces that were like daughters, Melanie Cooper of Atlanta, GA and Sheyenne Shepale Shannon of St. Petersburg, FL; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
