Robert Handy

Robert Edward Handy was born to the late Edward S. Handy and the late Janie Handy in Princess Anne, Maryland and was educated in The Somerset County School system. Robert accepted Christ at a very young age and an actual member of the Mt. Hope A.M.E. Zion Church of Princess Anne, Maryland. Prior to leaving Princess Anne, Robert was employed at The Campbell Soup Company and The Mountaineer Poultry Feed Company. In 2008 Robert relocated to Michigan and united with The New Genesis Baptist Church of Detroit, Michigan under the leadership of Pastor Lawrence Dunwoody and his son Rev. George Edward Handy who currently serves as the Associate Pastor of the church. Upon his arrival to Michigan, Robert Edward Handy, affectionately know as “Daddy Handy” became an honorary member of “ The Inkster Community Choraliers”. Instantly he became the Father of the choir. Daddy Handy followed the choir on countless engagements, concerts ect……… meeting no strangers. His infectious smile warmed our hearts and the hearts of everyone that he came in contact with. The Choraliers thank God for sending Robert Edward Handy to us! Robert was preceded in death by 3 brothers Issac Handy, Alexander Handy and George B. Handy- 3 sisters Janie Upchurch, Emily Jones, and Adeline Handy Brown. He leaves to cherish his loving memory to two sons Rev. George Edward Handy (Janice), Kevin B. Handy (Victoria), six grandchildren, a host of great grand children, one niece, three great nieces, a host of cousins and special dear friends in addition to The Inkster Community Choraliers Family. Honorable Mention: To Rev. George and Janice Handy the two of you have done an exceptional job in caring for caring for “Daddy Handy”. We have witnessed on a regular basis that the two of you were major blessings to this man of God. The both of you can hold your heads up high with no regrets. Job Well Done! Robert made a peaceful transition into the arms of Jesus on October 19, 2012 in the home of Rev. George and Janice Handy and was surrounded by additional family members that he loved dearly. Amen!
