Frank Shamer Obituary

Frank Edward Shamer Sr., age 83, of Winfield, passed away at Carroll Hospice Dove House with family by his side on Sunday, July 9, 2017. Born December 30, 1933, in Catonsville, Maryland, he was the son of the late Garland W. Shamer Sr. and Cathrine M. Piquett Shamer. He was a farmer, race horse owner, and truck driver retiring from Montgomery Ward after 30+ years of service. He enjoyed his farm, napping on his swing, and tinkering in his garage especially when restoring antique Farmall tractors. He was the husband of the late Arbadella Ball Shamer and currently the husband of Janette Shamer. He is survived by his children Frances (Buddy) Flohr, Wanda (Jimmy) Graybeal, Theresa Shiflett, Lynn (Les) McElroy, and Frank (Lisa) Shamer Jr.; his grandchildren Rachel, Bridget, Becky, Bobby, Michael, Robert, Lesly, Travis, Brett and Stephanie; his step-children Julie (Bob) Redifer and Mark (Nancie) Fletcher; his step-grandchildren Sarah, Nicholas, Brian, Kyle, Jen, Austin, Tristan, and Cheyene. He is also survived by his brother John ‘Jack’ Shamer, his sister Evelyn Bankerd, numerous nieces and nephews, and many special friends. The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 13, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home, 1212 W. Old Liberty Road, Winfield, MD 21784, where a funeral service will be held on Friday, July 14, at 11 am. Interment will follow in Lakeview Memorial Park. For those wishing, donations in memory of the deceased can be made to Carroll Hospice Dove House, 292 Stoner Avenue, Westminster, Maryland 21157.
