Albert F. Ransom Obituary

Albert F. Ransom II, 70, a resident of Flagler Beach, FL, and long-time resident of Auburn, MA, passed away on Monday, November 23, 2020, at his Auburn home with his family at his side. He leaves his beloved wife, Wendelin (Barrows) Ransom; his two sons, Joseph “Reid” Ransom and his wife, Cindy, and their children, Cash and Maya Ransom of Orlando, FL; his son Derek Albert Ransom of Auburn, MA; his brother Alan “Reid” Ransom and his wife, Martha, of Florence, OR; his sisters, Carol Ann Ransom of Bradenton, FL, and Mary Sue McGowan and her husband, Christopher, of Calgary, Alberta; and many in-laws, nieces and nephews. Bert was the son of the late Albert and Blanche (Stamer) Ransom. He was born in Dallas, TX, and raised in Montreal where he graduated from Westmount High School. He came to MA in 1970 where he was employed by New England Telephone Company as a central office switchman. In 1978, he transferred to AT&T, retiring in 2009 as a Project Manager. Bert and Wendy raised their sons in Auburn, MA, and moved to Flagler Beach, in 2008. Bert most enjoyed spending family time with his wife and sons, his daughter-in-law and his two grandchildren. When his sons were young, Bert spent countless hours travelling to, and attending, his son’s ice-hockey games and practices. The family enjoyed many happy Cape Cod vacations and a variety of water and snow sports. Bert was a skilled handy-man and a great cook. In his retirement years, he enjoyed golfing, boating, motorcycling, travelling and, most of all, preparing meals with Wendy and living their beach-side life. In 2010, the couple embarked on a 10-week, 14,000-mile road trip across the United States and Canada that they jokingly dubbed “The Imposition Tour,” where they enjoyed the gracious hospitality of relatives and friends all along the way. Bert enjoyed excellent health prior to a cancer diagnosis in July of this year. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather whose world centered around his family. He experienced great love and had a wonderful life. He will be dearly missed by his family and in-laws, and he will live in their hearts forever. A celebration of Bert’s life will be held at a later date.
