Anthony “Tony” Bucco, 69, husband of Charlotte (Roderick) Bucco, died on Sunday, February 1st, 2015 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers after a long illness. Born in Ortona, Italy, he was the son of the late Mauro and Anita (Bartera) Bucco. Tony immigrated to the United States at the age of 8 and settled with his family in Beverly. Tony was a graduate of Beverly High School class of 1963.
Tony started his career as a machinist at the United Shoe Machinery Corporation in Beverly. He would later earn a degree in engineering and hold manufacturing management positions at Autoroll and Gould, eventually ending his engineering career back with “the Shoe.”
His Italian heritage was important to him and he was a 50 year member of the Patria e Lavoro Society in Beverly and a 45 year member of the Knights of Columbus in Salem.
Tony had many interests and hobbies including bowling, cards, stamp collecting, coin collecting, horseshoes, traveling, camping, biking, softball and the library. He was the acting Secretary of the Knights Bowling League from the mid-70s to 2014. His favorite times were traveling with Charlotte and walking the beach on a summer day.
The family would like to thank the staffs at Massachusetts General Hospital-Danvers Oncology, Salem Hospital Davenport 9, Spaulding in Lynn and the Kaplan Family Hospice House, who provided tremendous care and support to Tony and his family.
A loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle, Tony leaves behind his wife of 48 years, Charlotte, and three sons and daughter-in-laws, Michael and Dawna; Brian and Linda; Paul and Kristel. His seven grandchildren: Emily, Isabella, Dante, Sofia, Angelina, Sadie and Calvin; His brother, Vito Bucco and his wife Janice; His brother Bruno Bucco; Several sister-in-laws and brother-in-laws; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
