Dr. Arthur G. Ciampa, 83 years old, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Monday, April 4, 2011. Devoted husband of Elaine (Barrile) Ciampa, with whom he shared 44 years of marriage. Born in Boston, cherished son of the late Nicola and Elizabeth (LoConte) Ciampa.
Faithful friend and neighbor to many in his hometown of East Boston and in Beverly, where he has resided for 41 years. A graduate of Boston College, class of 1949, and Tufts University School of Dental Medicine, Class of 1959. Dr. Ciampa was a caring dentist to many patients who became family friends over the years. An honorably discharged World War II Navy veteran, Dr. Ciampa’s first priority was his family. A lifelong learner who highly valued education, he had a dry sense of humor and loved sharing puns and wordplay. He also enjoyed spending time with friends, boating, music, carpentry, building, gardening and reading.
Beloved father of, Elizabeth and Domenic Leuzzi of Beverly, Elena Ciampa and Eric Dostal of Northampton, Evelyn Ciampa and Eamonn O’Kane of Cambridge, Dr. Joseph A. Ciampa of Beverly; Maria Ciampa and Justin Carr of Winthrop; Christina Ciampa of Denver, Colorado; Dr. Sarah Ciampa and Jacob Zachry of Northampton; doting grandfather of Lucia and Simon Dostal, Isabella and Christina Leuzzi; beloved brother of Florence Laidley, Elizabeth DeOrio, Emma Miniscalco; Phyllis Calsimitto; Lillian Moore; and Amelia Stolos; and loving uncle of many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews. He was also brother of the late Angela Fiorillo, Joseph Ciampa, and Evelyn DeRosa.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday at 9:00 a.m. at St. Margaret’s Church, 672 Hale Street, Beverly Farms. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours at the Campbell – Lee, Moody, Russell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot Street, Beverly (North Beverly Location) on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. Burial in Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.
