Obituary for Bernard P. Cristoforo

Mr. Bernard P. “Bernie Sax” Cristoforo 79, beloved husband of Antoinette (Macone) Cristoforo, died Sunday, December 18, 2011 at the Cedar Glenn Health Care Center in Danvers.
Born and raised in Beverly, he was the son of the late Alexander and Lucy (Thomas) Cristoforo. He graduated from Beverly High School and continued his education at Bentley College.
An honorably discharged veteran, her served his country during the Korean Conflict as a member of the United States Army.
Mr. Cristoforo had been employed for seventeen years as an accountant at Salem Hospital until the time of his retirement.
A lifelong resident of the City of Beverly, he was a member of the Italian Community Center, the Kiwanis Club and the Beverly Elks. An accomplished musician, Bernie was a saxophone player in his band “The Bernie Saxon Orchestra” where he played throughout the Northshore for many years. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend who will be missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his wife with whom he shared fifty five years of marriage, he is survived by two daughters, Diane Kutney and her husband, Kenneth of Londonderry, NH and Nancy Sahagian and her husband, Greg of Reading, four sons, Brian P. Cristoforo and his wife, Lory of Middleton, Barry P. Cristoforo and his wife, Nancy of Hamilton, Michael P. Cristoforo and his wife, Han of Beverly and Steven P. Cristoforo and his wife, Theresa of Beverly, fourteen grandchildren, one sister, Josephine Batchelder and her husband, John of Florida and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at the Campbell – Lee, Moody, Russell Funeral Home 525 Cabot Street, Beverly (North Beverly location) Thursday, at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Burial at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Beverly. Visiting hours Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. Information, directions and condolences at www.campbellfuneral.com.
