Obituary for Bettie Lou Laffranchi

Bettie Lou (Stonebraker) Laffranchi 88, formerly of Ferndale, CA, Tucson, AZ and Eureka, KS, wife of the late Ernest G. Laffranchi, died Thursday, October 2, 2014 at the Hathorne Hill Health Care Center in Danvers.
Born in Portageville, MO, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Cordelia May (Combs) Stonebraker. She graduated from High School, Eureka, Kansas in 1947.
After graduating from high school, she moved to Wichita Kansas to attend secretarial school. She met a young man, Frank William (Bill) Jones, at a local radio station dance. They married in 1948 and had two sons, Brian and Bruce.
During the 1950's and 60's she was a housewife providing a loving home for her family. She and her husband Bill owned Fabric Village in Tucson, AZ during the 1970's. They were married for 28 years, divorced in 1975.
She met Ernie Laffranchi on a cruise ship in 1978 and married in 1979 moving to Ferndale, California where she assisted with the daily operation of her husband's business: Laffranchi Refrigeration.
Mrs. Laffranchi also owned and operated Laffranchi Wholesale in Ferndale, CA for many years until her retirement at age 80. She imported plate coolers from New Zealand and stainless steel pumps from Taiwan which were sold to dairy and micro-brewery businesses. Together Bettie and Ernie traveled the world for pleasure and business.
Bettie was a resident of Ferndale, CA for twenty six years before moving after Ernie's death to the North Shore of Boston in 2006, first in assisted living at Bertram House in Swampscott and the last 6 years in independent living at Brightview Danvers where she hosted Monday night old time films in the Brightview Theater.
Surviving her are two sons, Brian Robert Jones and his wife, Frederica (Russ) of Manchester by the Sea, MA and Bruce Alan Jones and his wife, Marguerite of Las Vegas, NV, three grandchildren, Christopher Johnathan Jones, David Nathanael Jones and Jeremy Alan Jones, seven great grandchildren, Matthew A. Jones, Kirsten A. Jones, Andrew N. Jones, Isaac D. Jones, Hannah P. Jones, Zachariah J. Jones and Harrison A. Jones as well as her first husband Frank Wm Jones of Chanute Kansas. She was also the sister of the late Robert Dalton Stonebraker and grandmother of the late Zachary L. Jones. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend who will be missed by all who knew her.
A Memorial Service will be held at the First Baptist Church, 20 School Street, Manchester MA, Monday, October 20th at 10a.m. after a graveside service at 9a.m. at the Pleasant Grove Cemetery (corner of Pleasant and Pine street, Manchester, MA).
