Obituary for Catherine A. DiGrazia

Mrs. Catherine A. (McDonald) DiGrazia 69, formerly of Beverly and Peabody, died Saturday, June 18, 2011 at the Boston Medical Center in Boston.
Born in Queens, NY, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Reita (Sullivan) McDonald. She earned her nursing certificate from the Addison Gilbert Hospital School of Nursing in Gloucester.
Mrs. DiGrazia had been employed for many years as a licensed practical nurse at the former J.B. Thomas Hospital in Peabody as well as several nursing homes in the North Shore area until the time of her retirement.
A resident of the City of Beverly and Peabody for many years prior to moving to Amesbury, Mrs. DiGrazia enjoyed cooking, crafting, the Boston Red Sox and spending time with her grand children and many friends. She also enjoyed volunteering her time & energy to those in need and her community. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend who will be missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her son, Joseph A. DiGrazia and his wife, Jennifer of Amesbury, two grandchildren, Dylan and Julia DiGrazia, three brothers, Thomas J. McDonald of Rochester, NH, Paul F. McDonald of Beverly and John C. McDonald of Beverly and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was also the sister of the late Rita McKenna and George J. McDonald.
Her funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary Star of the Sea Church, 253 Cabot St., Beverly, Thursday, June 23, 2011 at 9 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours at the Campbell – Lee, Moody, Russell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot Street, Beverly (North Beverly location) Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in Catherine’s memory to the Amesbury Public Library, 149 Main St., Amesbury, MA 01913.
