Obituary for Charlotte E Buchanan

Charlotte E. (Pearse) Buchanan, 94

Beverly - Charlotte E. (Pearse) Buchanan, 94, of Beverly passed away peacefully on March 10, 2016 at Ledgewood Rehab & Nursing Facility in Beverly. She was born on September 6, 1921. She was one of eight children born to the late Leslie H. and Edith (Moody) Pearse.
Mom was predeceased by her husband, Matthew L. Buchanan, Sr., Retired U.S. Navy. Mom was proud to be a Navy wife and traveled the country with Matt and the children.
Charlotte was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend. She loved spending time with her family and found great joy in sharing in their lives. She had a kind and caring spirit and loved to laugh and have a good time with her family and friends. Her wish for each and every one she loved was just simple happiness. She taught us there is good in everyone.
Mom loved to play cards (only for money), go to bingo and trips to Salem Willows for her chop suey sandwiches and popcorn. Mom had a “mad crush” on Elvis. She also looked forward to her weekly visits by her grand dog “Ted” - they were best buds.
In addition to her husband, she was also predeceased by her sisters, Marge Twardowski of Salem, Jean Burns and Janet Rust of Beverly, Joan Gates of Hamilton & Englewood FL and Phyllis Mazzotti of Hamilton & So. Berwick ME as well as her brothers, Ret. Col. Leslie H. Pearse of Florida and Harry S. Pearse of Salem, MA as well as by her daughter-in-law, Barbara Burke-Buchanan and several nieces and nephews.
Charlotte is survived by her four loving and devoted children and their spouses Matthew and Rose Buchanan, Keene NH, David and Linda Buchanan, Beverly, MA and William and Maria Buchanan of Naples ME and her daughter Sharon and Ken Wilson of Harrison ME and six adoring grandchildren Keri & Jason Buchanan, Matthew and Sean Buchanan, Elizabeth Buchanan and Julie Gray. She was a great grandmother to Thomas & Kristen Gray. She was also survived by her extended family Scott and Marlene Wilson, Barbara Wilson and Jeff Wilson as well as many nephews and nieces. Especially her loving and devoted niece, caregiver and guardian angel Gail Burns Estes - don’t know what we would have done without you Gail - we love you and thank you.
Visiting hours will be from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Campbell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot Street on Tuesday March 15, 2016. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
