WENHAM Daniel F. Sullivan, 71, of Naples, Florida and Wenham, Massachusetts died after a brief illness on Thursday October 16, 2008 surrounded by his wife and family. Mr. Sullivan, a native of Lawrence, Massachusetts was the son of the late Daniel F. Sullivan, Sr. and Margaret (Ready) Sullivan of Lawrence. He attended Lawrence Public Schools and graduated from Lawrence Academy in Groton, Massachusetts and received a degree in Engineering from Villanova University, Villanova, Pennsylvania and an MBA from the University of Chicago, Chicago, Illinois.
Mr. Sullivan was employed as an engineer at Western Electric in North Andover for five years following his graduation from Villanova. He began his financial analyst and financial management career at Connecticut Mutual Insurance Company in Hartford, Connecticut, followed by three years at Davis, Palmer and Biggs in New York City. Sullivan then became a partner at Rollert and Sullivan in Boston, Massachusetts and later was a founder and President of Sasco Capital in Southport, Connecticut where he spent seven years managing the pension fund investments of major national corporations including IBM and Marriott Corporation. He retired to his home in Naples, Florida in 1993 where he continued to be active in financial circles.
Mr. Sullivan was a member of the New York, Boston and Naples Security Analyst Societies, the New York Athletic Club, and the Club at Pelican Bay in Naples.
Mr. Sullivan is survived by his wife of 29 years, Phyllis Cotti Sullivan, cousins Lois and Murray Callahan of Chevy Chase, Maryland, Sister Barbara Nelson RSM and Sister Mary Whelan RSM of Manchester, NH; Anne Sweeney of Andover and Sister Mary Kelleher SMD of New Jersey. He is also survived by sisters and brothers-in-law Vivian and Roland Caron of Salem; Eleanor Blatchford of Beverly, Felix and Christine Cotti of Topsfield and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
