Obituary for Elizabeth T Dropo

Beverly - Elizabeth “Terry” (Wise) Dropo of Beverly, passed away peacefully on September 29, 2015, at the Ledgewood Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing facility. She was 86.
Born in St. Louis, Missouri on February 3, 1929, she was the daughter of Grace (Gerken) and William Wise.
During her childhood, she travelled extensively throughout the country with her brother and mother who was a Field Director for the American Red Cross. She attended Chaffey High School in Ontario, California graduating in 1947. She studied at San Jose State College and then realized her dream of becoming a flight attendant for American Airlines.
On a charter flight carrying the Red Sox in 1951, Elizabeth met Walter Dropo, Red Sox first baseman and 1950 Rookie of the Year. They were married in 1952 and raised their family in Marblehead where Elizabeth was active in the Junior Aid Society. Together they had three children, Jeffrey, Carla and Christina. Sadly, Jeffrey passed away in 2008 after a two-year journey with brain cancer.
Elizabeth is survived by her daughters, Carla and her husband Tom Welch of Beverly, Christina and her husband Vladian Hogea of California, and a daughter-in-law Susan Dropo of Sandwich. She is also survived by a brother, William Wise and his wife Rose of Seattle, Washington. She was predeceased by her beloved son, Jeffrey. Elizabeth also has five beautiful grandchildren, Jennifer Dropo of North Carolina, Elizabeth Dropo of Hawaii, Alexander Dropo of New York City and Sarah and Nicole Welch of Beverly; four nieces, Cynthia Alfieri of Thailand, Joanne Alfieri and her husband Eric Wolfe of Connecticut, and Sandra Aubrey and her husband Jonathan of Tacoma and Dianne Wise and her husband of Seattle; three nephews, Carl and Paul Harrington of Connecticut, William Wise and his wife Lorna of Alaska and several grand nieces and grand nephews.
The Dropo family will host a memorial service in the spring to celebrate her beautiful life. Arrangements by the Campbell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot Street, Beverly. Online condolences at www.campbellfuneral.com.
