Gerard A. St. Gelais, age 87 years, husband of Katherine L. (Story) St. Gelais, died peacefully surrounded by his family on Saturday, April 16, 2011 at Beverly Hospital. Born in Salem, he was son of the late Albert and Cecile (Tache) St. Gelais. He has resided in Hamilton for over the past 50 years.
Mr. St. Gelais served in the US Army during World War II in the European Theatre. He worked as an Executive Housekeeper for Gordon College for 25 years. Gerard was a member of the American Legion in Beverly, and the VFW of Salem. He enjoyed playing cribbage, but above all, loved to spend time with his family.
Surviving him in addition to his wife are his children, Gerard R. St. Gelais and his wife Glenda of Danvers, Kathy Longo and her husband John of Georgetown, Marilyn Phillips and her husband John of Arizona, and Alison Blake and her husband Robert of Beverly; his brother, Henry St. Gelais and his wife Jeanne of Canada; his grandchildren, Kristen, Ryan, Trevor, Alanna, Katherine, Alec, Christian, and Lilly; and his great-grandchildren, Kaylee and Max.
A Funeral Service will be held at the Campbell – Lee, Moody, Russell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot Street, Beverly (North Beverly Location) on Thursday at 12 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours on Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. Burial in Hamilton Cemetery. Contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 20 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701.
