Obituary for Irene Rita Mulvey

MANCHESTER - Irene R. Mulvey, daughter of the late James J. and Delia Walsh Mulvey, passed away on July 6, 2015 at the age of 97. She was born in Manchester-by-the-Sea, MA and graduated from Manchester schools.

Miss Mulvey was employed for many years at Choate, Hall & Stewart in Boston, MA until her retirement. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Church and the Manchester Historical Society.

Irene enjoyed traveling, and most of all, her trip to Ireland, as she was very proud of her Irish heritage. Irene was loved by her family and friends and will be greatly missed. She had a fondness for animals.

Irene is survived by one niece, Mary Irene (Mulvey) Bingham and her husband James of Naples, Florida, a nephew, James J. Mulvey III of Manchester-by-the-Sea, MA, several great nieces and nephews and one great-great niece. She was the sister of the late Mary F. Mulvey, Helen G. Mulvey, Ruth A. Mulvey and Lillian Mulvey Hurley, wife of the late William F. Hurley, her late brother James J. Mulvey, Jr., and his late wife Irene M. Mulvey of Manchester-by-the-Sea, MA. She is also predeceased in death by her niece, Joanne M. Corliss and her husband Thomas Patrick of Manchester-by-the-Sea, MA.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Parish, 62 School Street, Manchester-by-the-Sea, on Friday at 10:00 A.M. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. There are no visiting hours and burial will be held privately. Memorial donations may be made in Irene’s Memory to Sacred Heart Parish, 62 School St., Manchester, MA 01944 or to Cape Ann Animal Aid, 260 Main St., Gloucester, MA 01930.
