Obituary for Jean T. Furey

Beverly - Jean T. (McKenney) Furey, age 92, died December 6, 2016 at Blueberry Hill Nursing Home in Beverly. Born in Salem. She was the daughter of the late Henry and Bertha (Hyde) McKenney and wife of the late James T. Furey.
Jean graduated from Salem High School with the Class of 1941 and graduated from St. Elizabeth College, Morristown, New Jersey with the Class of 1945 with a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting. While raising her family she returned to Salem State University earning a degree in education. She was a communicate of St. Mary Star of the Sea Church in Beverly.

Mrs. Furey worked at Liberty Mutual early in her career and later as a teacher at Edwards School in Beverly for many years. She enjoyed traveling and especially loved spending time with her family. She was a devoted daughter, wife, mother and grandmother.

Surviving her is a son, James Furey of Beverly; three daughters, Joyce and her husband Anthony Brindle of Port Charlotte, FL, Margaret and her husband Edmund Lavoie of Raleigh, NC and Mary and her husband William Delaney of Beverly; seventeen grandchildren; five great grandchildren and a great-great grandchild. She was predeceased by a daughter, Elise LaClair.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary Star of the Sea Church, 253 Cabot Street, Beverly, Friday, December 9, 2016 at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours prior at the Campbell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot Street, Beverly, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Burial in Central Cemetery, Beverly.
