Obituary for Jeanne M. Rackliffe

BEVERLY: Jeanne M. (Wilmot) O’Connor Rackliffe, 87, died Friday, June 23, 2017 in the Beverly Hospital following a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Robert C. Rackliffe who died in 1954.

Born in Beverly on August 15, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Percy R. and Berniece (Woodbury) Wilmot. A lifelong resident of Beverly, she was a graduate of Beverly High School class of 1947.

Jeanne was employed as a clerk at Bake’nJoy in North Andover for several years. She had also worked as a bookkeeper at the Law Office of Ardiff & Morse in Danvers, worked in consumer loans at the former Danvers Savings Bank and in the Life Insurance Dept. at the former Beverly Savings Bank. She had also once worked at the former Larrabee’s Market on Essex St. in Beverly.

Since 1952, Jeanne has been a member of the First Baptist Church of Beverly, where she served as church clerk during the planning and construction of Turtle Creek. She also loved sewing and knitting.

She is survived by her loving daughter, the Rev. Linda J. Rackliffe of Chester, NH; longtime friend, James Tallo of Beverly and several nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by two sisters, Edna Cullen and Priscilla Magee and her former spouse, Thomas J. O’Connor, Jr.

Her funeral service will be held on Friday in the Campbell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot St., Beverly at 11 a.m. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 10 - 11 a.m. Relatives and friends and cordially invited to attend. Interment will be held in Central Cemetery, Beverly. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the First Baptist Church, 221 Cabot St., Beverly, MA 01915.
