Obituary for Joan C. Scotti

Mrs. Joan C. (Shea) Scotti, 84, wife of the late Edmund L. Scotti and the late Robert W. Cross, died Thursday morning, July 21, 2011 at the Beth Israel Hospital in Boston. Born and raised in Salem, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary (Sullivan) Shea. She received her education in the Salem school system and graduated from Salem High School. Mrs. Scotti was an owner of E. L. Scotti Furniture Company in Danvers for many years until the time of her retirement. A resident of Beverly for over sixty years, she was a member and past president of the Young Woman’s Republican Party of Beverly Farms. Joan was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother who opened her home up to all and will be missed by those who knew her.

She is survived by her daughter Kathryn Tormey and her husband David of Beverly; her son, Stephen K. Cross of Beverly; stepdaughters Bunny Smith of Beverly and Francine McElvenny of Tampa, FL; six grandchildren, William Smith of Beverly; Tammy Rodolico of Beverly, Chuck Smith of Beverly; James McElvenny and Petra McElvenny, both of Tampa, FL; and Matthew Tormey of Beverly; four great grandchildren, Tara Smith, Stephanie Rodolico, Sarah Rodolico and Mcartney Smith; several nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Mary Herlihy and Constance Pearson.

Her funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary Star of the Sea Church, 253 Cabot Street, Beverly on Tuesday, July 26 at 11:00 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours at the Campbell – Lee, Moody, Russell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot Street, Beverly (North Beverly location) Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. Burial will be in Beverly Farms Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in Joan’s memory to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701.
