Obituary for John E Audesse

John Emery Audesse, 52, of Beverly, died Wednesday, September 9, 2015 at Kaplan Family Hospice House after a courageous battle with cancer with his family by his side.

Born in Salem, he was the son of Emery and Janet Audesse of Gloucester. He has lived throughout the North Shore and has lived in Beverly for the past 10 years.

He attended grammar school at St. James in Salem and graduated from Beverly High School in 1981. He later attended Merrimac College for Electrical Engineering.

John was a general contractor and architect for the past 30 years. He owned two businesses, Audesse Construction and Architect Alternative. He loved his profession and had great pride in custom building for both himself and his clients, who quickly became great friends. Further to his work ethic, he enjoyed mentoring younger people in his craft and teaching them the trade that he loved.

John loved spending quality time with his family and friends. He enjoyed boating, mountain biking, running, skiing in “dungarees,” and most of all, going on long motorcycle trips with his nephew and partner Karen; he believed being outdoors and by the ocean could cure all.

He had a contagious smile and a sparkle in his eye. He could be heard from a mile away overusing the words “wicked” and “mint,” which he used to describe anything he favored.

He is survived by his two daughters, Amanda and Katelyn; parents, Emery and Janet Audesse; siblings, Catherine Lukas, Elizabeth O’Dess, David Audesse and his wife Patricia, Michael Audesse and his partner Valerie; John’s partner Karen Otto, of three years, and her daughter Jennifer Heller; as well as many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and great nephews. His constant companion was his beloved German Shepherd Ava, who he was rarely seen without.

A Funeral Mass will celebrated at Saint Mary Star of the Sea, 253 Cabot Street, Beverly on Tuesday at 12:00 Noon. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held at the Campbell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot Street, Beverly on Monday from 4-8 P.M. Memorial donations may be gratefully accepted towards an educational fund set up for John’s daughters at the John Audesse Memorial Education Fund, TD Bank, 175 Cabot Street, Beverly, MA 01915.
