Obituary for Joseph Raymond Lumino

Joseph Raymond Lumino, 64, husband of Evelyn A. (Salemme) Lumino, died on Thursday, September 20 after a brief illness. Joe was the founder and president of J. Lumino and Company LLC of Beverly. Mr. Lumino was born in Revere, son of Marion F. (Dantes) Lumino of Malden and the late Joseph John Lumino. Joe was a graduate of Malden Catholic High School and Northeastern University. He was a resident of Peabody for over 20 years and was an active member and past president of the Beverly Rotary Club, past president of We Care About Homes in Beverly, and a member of the board of directors of the Harborlight Community Partners. Also, was a former member of the board of directors of YMCA of the North Shore and the United Way. Joe was a corporator of the Beverly Cooperative Bank and was a member of the Vittori Rocci Post. He was a recipient of the Paul Harris Fellow in Rotary and the Boy Scouts Distinguished Citizen Award. Joe was a member of the Thomson Country Club in North Reading. Joe was a member of the Massachusetts National Guard for six years.He was an avid train collector, enjoyed playing golf with his friends and traveling with his wife Evy.

In addition to his wife and mother, Joe is survived by two brothers, Paul Lumino of Malden; and Mark Lumino and his wife Paula of Peabody; several nieces and nephews, Sophia Lumino, Christopher, Michael and Matthew Salemme, Nicole Kahle, Marcy and Diana Lumino. Also survived by his mother in law, Lucy Salemme of Revere; brother in law of Jerry Salemme and his wife Rachel Welch of Arlington, VA. Joe was also survived by several Aunts and Uncles. He was the son in law of late Ralph Salemme and uncle of the late Kerry Ann Lumino. Joe also leaves a very special family member, Maria Teresa Salemme, his kidney donor.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, September 24 in St. Adelaide’s Church, 708 Lowell Street, Peabody at 11:00 A.M. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours will be held at the Campbell – Lee, Moody, Russell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot Street, Beverly (North Beverly location) on Sunday from 4 to 7 P.M. Burial will be in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park in Peabody. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Joe’s memory to St. Adelaide’s Church, Christian Service Fund, 712 Lowell Street, Peabody, MA 01960.
