Obituary for Laurie A. Saliba

Laurie April (Ellison) Saliba, 45, beloved wife of Ghatfan, entered into eternal rest on December 21, 2011. Born in Beverly on July 3, 1966 she was the daughter of Cheryl (Gagnon) and her husband Henry Civitarese and James Ellison of South Carolina. Laurie was a devoted mother to Sara Saliba and Christopher Murray also of Las Vegas. She was a 1984 graduate of Beverly High School. During her high school years Laurie belonged to several area Drum Corps and then decided to audition for the Bridgemen of Bayonne, New Jersey. Two hundred people showed up to the audition, she being the only female and she was selected for the drum line. Laurie had a larger than life personality and lived life to the fullest. She took such pleasure in making people laugh and helping those less fortunate. One evening with heavy traffic on “the strip”, she decided to take matters into her own hands and started dancing and bellowing out Harry Belafonte’s “Dayo” and actually stopped the traffic to the delight and laughter of motorists and tourists alike. Her greatest joy has been her son Christopher and her daughter Sara and her kitty Twilight. Her devotion to God was tantamount in her life. Having been a past member of “The Potter’s House” and more recently a member of the Mormon Church, her belief in God had gotten her through many painful days.

Laurie leaves behind her maternal grandmother, Ruth Gagnon of Beverly, her brother Scott and his wife Gail Civitarese of Peabody, Jeff and his wife Karen Civitarese of Beverly, nieces Christy Perry, Nichole Guidry, Colleen Cameron nephews Steve Cameron, Rob and his wife Maria Cameron and Anthony and Andrew Saliba, her brother-in-law, Rayan Saliba and his wife, Rima of Burlington, and her best friend Kim Flynn and many friends. She is predeceased by her sister, Lisa Guidry and her uncle Alan Gagnon.
