Obituary for Leonard L Heitz

Beverly - Leonard L. Heitz III 88, formerly of Hamilton and Rochester, NH, beloved husband of Elaine L. (Tapley) Heitz, died Wednesday, November 2, 2016 at the Beverly Hospital.
Born in Arlington, he was the son of the late Leonard L. Jr. and Ethel (Cantell) Heitz. He was raised and educated in Medford and graduated from Medford High School.
An honorably discharged veteran, he served his country during World War II as a member of the United States Army.
Mr. Heitz had been employed for twenty years as a foreman in the Water Department for the Town of Hamilton until the time of his retirement. Prior to that he had worked at Industrial Cab in Essex.
Mr. Heitz had a love for photography where he had been hired to capture many moments at wedding throughout the years. He was also a member of the First United Methodist Church in Hamilton.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend who will be missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his wife, with whom he shared sixty five years of marriage, he is survived by a daughter, Alison Standley and her husband, David of Wenham, three sons, Peter Heitz and his wife, Linda of South Hamilton, Kenneth Heitz and his wife, Lisa of Beverly and Eric Heitz and Kimberly Hincman of Rowley, eleven grandchildren, Joel, Alissa, Shane, Devan, Jennifer, Jeffrey, Tracey, Brian, Megan, Lauren and Brandon, five great grandchildren, a brother, William Heitz and his wife, Arlene of Portsmouth, NH. He was also the grandfather of the late Michael Heitz.
His funeral service will be held at the First United Methodist Church, 391 Bay Road, Hamilton, Tuesday, November 8, 2016 at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Burial in the Hamilton Cemetery. Contributions may be made in his memory to the Michael Heitz Memorial Fund, c/o Beverly Bank, 48 Enon St., Beverly, MA 01915.
