Lillian C. (Roumas) Danforth, 87, beloved wife of the late Addison A. Danforth, passed away Saturday, April 16, 2011 at Ledgewood Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center in Beverly. Born in Beverly, she was the daughter of the late Charles J. and Catherine C. (Danas) Roumas.
Lillian, a lifelong Beverly resident, graduated with the class of 1941 from Beverly High School. She went on to attend Endicott College graduating in 1943 with the second graduating class. Lillian worked and retired as a supervisor from the New England Telephone and Telegraph Company and was a past president of the Telephone Pioneers of America. She was a lifelong member of the Saint Vasilios Philoptohos and Daughters of Penelope. Lillian was an artist in her later years and a member and exhibitor of the Beverly Art Guild and Rockport Art Association.
Lillian, loved by so many, will be missed by her loving family, extended family, long list of friends and neighbors.
Surviving her is one son: James F. Danforth and his wife Allyson of Beverly; one brother: James C. Roumas and his wife Ann of New Jersey; four grandchildren: Nicholas J. Danforth and Spencer A. Danforth of Beverly and Jonathan R. Danforth and Benjamin Danforth of Wenham; two nephews: Charles Roumas and his partner Brian Volz of Vermont, John Roumas and his wife Debra of Arizona; one niece: Kathy Riley and her husband Mike of Georgia; and a brother-in-law: Frank J. Domick of Georgia. She is predeceased by her two sons: Addison C. (Chuck) Danforth and Richard E. Danforth; and her sister, Beatrice Domick.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Saint Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church, 7 Paleologos Street, Peabody on Tuesday at 10:00 A.M. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours will be at the Campbell-Lee, Moody Russell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot Street, Beverly (North Beverly Location) on Monday from 4 to 7p.m. Burial will be in the North Beverly Cemetery.
