Marjorie M. Bechtel of Beverly, died at home unexpectedly Tuesday, Feb. 28th she was 83. Born in Somerville, MA and raised in South Boston, she was the daughter of the late Conrad Leonhardi and Olivette M. (Henuset) Leonhardi. She was a proud Marine Corp reservist serving during the Korean Conflict. While in the Corp she received specialty training in Personnel and Administrative Management. Following her honorable discharge she worked for a number of years in business and finance in Boston. After retirement she moved to Florida and received her associate’s degree from the culinary program at Tampa Community College in Hotel and Restaurant management. She also worked for the Largo Police Department as a crossing guard. Marjorie had a natural musical talent for playing the accordion and will be remembered for her great sense of humor.
She is survived by her sons Larry Bechtel and his wife Elaine of Ellsworth, Maine, Robert Parks and Brian Bechtel of Salem, her daughter Theresa Ward of Beverly and her grandsons David Ward and Colin Bechtel. She was the sister of Conrad and David Leonhardi, Christine Moriarty, Esther Holmes and the late Olivette Holmes. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be celebrated Friday, March 2nd, at 9 AM in the Campbell-Lee Moody, Russell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot Street North Beverly location.
