Obituary for Mary Jeanne Jeanne Long

HAMILTON - Mary Jeanne Long, 72, beloved wife of Alden B. Long, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 25th at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Syracuse, New York, she is the daughter of Norma Mae (Wells) Overhiser of Danvers and the late Garrett W. Overhiser.
Mary Jeanne grew up in Syracuse and graduated from Syracuse Technical High School. For many years, Mary Jeanne worked at New York Bell and New England Bell Telephone Companies. She moved to Hamilton with her husband and has resided there for the past 40 years. Mary Jeanne loved to sew, cook and entertain. What brought her the most joy was being with her family and making her house into a welcoming home. She would regularly prepare sumptuous meals for as many as 20 or more family members and friends, and her cooking was without equal. She was an active member at the New Life Community Church, were she would volunteer her time with kindness and generosity. Mary Jeanne leaves many friends and her loving family.
In addition to her husband of 41 years Alden and her mother Norma Mae (Wells) Overhiser, she is survived by two children: David James Long and his wife Maya of Beverly and Jennifer St. Pierre and her husband Justin of Lawrence; three brothers: Garret W. Overhiser, Jr. of Marshfield, Bruce E. Overhiser of Haverhill and Paul D. Overhiser of Pepperell; eight grandchildren: Ryan Spaniak, Courtney and Logan Lemoine, Jacob St. Pierre, Heidi Meyer, Tiffany, Deanna and Michael McCallum; two great grandchildren: Alexa Jones and Trista Young, along with many nieces, nephews, friends and her beloved cat Mitzi. She is predeceased by her son Paul Edmund Long.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Campbell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot Street, Beverly on Thursday, July 7th at 10:00 A.M. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday from 4 to 8 P.M. Burial will be in Hamilton Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made in Mary Jeanne’s Memory to the Abundant Food Pantry at New Life Community Church, 186 E Main St., Georgetown, MA 01833.
