Obituary for Mary E. Mondano

Mary E Mondano, 94, Beloved wife of the late John F. Mondano, SR, passed away on Wednesday, December 16th, at Beverly Hospital with her children by her side. Born in Beverly, she is the daughter of the late Joseph and Josephine (Zarella) Lotito.
Mary grew up in the Goat Hill section of Beverly and attended Beverly schools.
She started working at Sylvania in 1936 until 1957. During this period she married in 1944 and in 1953 started a second job at Beverly Fish and Lobster, owned by her brother Tommy, until 1955. From 1957 to 1965 she was a dedicated Mother, Homemaker and a women of many disciplines, always focused on family needs before her own.
In 1965 she began a part time career as a lunch monitor at Upton School until 1970 when she began her full time career at McKay school retiring in 1996. Because of her love for her job and love for the school children she agreed to come out of retirement, working another two years.
Every Monday Mary looked forward to shopping with her daughter Joanne and it is a tradition she continued with her son John. She loved ballroom dancing and was an unbelievable cook. Her sauce, meatballs and lasgana will be missed.
She is survived by her three children: Sandra Mondano of Arizona, Jean Marchbanks of California and John Mondano, Jr. and his wife Heidi of Beverly; brother: Frankie Lotito and his wife Marie of Rowely; son-in-law: George Desmond of Beverly; five grand children: Vanessa Platt of Georgia, Angela Constantino of Beverly. Sarah Chipman and her husband Chris of Lynn, Crystal Trojanowski and her husband Ryan of Washington, and Jordan Marchbanks of California; three great grandchildren: Emma June and Crew Jacob Trojanowski and Ava Joanne Chipman. Mary was affectionately known as "Nanie" to her grandchildren. She is proceeded by her daughter Joanne Desmond, grandson Nathaniel Jacob Wakefield and siblings: Antoinette "Pinky", Jean, Tina, Ida and Tommy.

Funeral services will be held privately. Memorial donations may be made in Mary's memory to the American Cancer Society 125 S Huntington Ave Boston, MA 02130. Mary was a breast cancer survivor.
