Hamilton – Ms. Rita Pooler 88, formerly of Hamilton, died Friday morning, April 27, 2012 at the Essex Park Health Care Center in Beverly.
Born in Bangor, Maine, she was the daughter of the late Paul D. and Genevieve (Currier) Pooler. She received her education in the Hamilton school system and graduated from Hamilton High School, class of 1942.
Ms. Pooler had been employed for many years as a dental assistant for Dr. Polsonetti until the time of her retirement in 1985. She had also volunteered for many years at the Church of St. Paul in Hamilton.
She had a great love for animals and was a longtime supporter of the MSPCA. She was a loving sister, aunt and friend who will be missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her brother, Lionel Pooler of Hamilton and many nieces and nephews. Rita was a “second mother” to her late sister Genevieve Sanders’ children, Patricia Grandmaison of Newburyport, Linda Hossfield of Medway, Elizabeth Novicki of Newton and Michael and Peter Sanders of San Francisco, CA. She was also the sister of the late Genevieve Sanders, Alice Pooler, Mildred Pooler and Paul Pooler.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at the Church of St. Paul, 50 Union St., Hamilton, Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at 9 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Burial in Hamilton Cemetery. As requested there will be no visiting hours. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in Rita’s memory to the MSPCA, 350 South Huntington Ave., Boston, MA 02130.
